For sure you have all the ingredients you love about Avantasia, which means bombastic arrangements, huge choirs and complexity while the songs are still very catchy and melodic, but “Ghostlights” is more heavy this time, more mysterious and has a more darker tone.

Impressive is the only word I can choose to describe Avantasia‘s Ghostlights.

Finding words to give this standout of a release the praise it is so worthy of is becoming difficult at best, for this was simply flawless, and it’s best to just leave it at that.

This is an album that, if justice is served, should win them global acclaim amongst the broader metal community because power metal does not get better than this.

For those of you whom always looked to EDGUY over AVANTASIA for a trademark Power Metal fix from Sammet, I urge you to now start paying attention to his other baby, because "Ghostlights" is their best album since "The Metal Opera"

Even at its lowest, it’s the kind of thing a band can only dream of releasing, and which hardly any motley crew of musicians and singers would be able to produce. What you have before you is, without a doubt, one of the best albums of the last few years.

In all honestly, this has got to be one of the strongest Avantasia releases of all time. Though the general atmosphere of the album is the darkest Tobias has attempted, Ghostlights shines so bright as it takes it’s rightful place in front of an already flawless discography.
Amid the usual Avantasia trademarks, there is a dark edge to “Ghostlights” that pushes this album into greatness.

This latest chapter of Avantasia is arguably one of their strongest releases to date. The atmosphere of the album is the darkest that Tobias Sammet has created, and Ghostlights takes the mantle of the band’s body of work in an already impressive discography.

Basically, Sammet as a composer and vocalist is a melodic metal genius.
